The Best Breweries in Downtown Boulder

Boulder may seem like a small mountain town in Colorado, but when it comes to the beer scene, this quaint little city knows what we’re talking about! Referred to as the “Napa Valley of Beer,” by TripSavvy, Boulder is home to over 300 breweries, producing more beer per capita than anywhere else in the country. Here are a few of the best breweries in downtown Boulder.

Upslope Brewing Company

Brought to Boulder by Matt Cutter, Henry Wood and Dany Page in 2008, the Upslope Brewing Company has been a local favorite over the past decade, known for their commitment to conserving the environment. All of their unique blends come in aluminum cans, which makes them better for the drinker, the beer, and the world.

Stop by their tap rooms in Flatiron Park and Lee Hill to try their seasonal sips, like a Thai Style White IPA, or one of their tap room series, which changes every year.

Avery Brewing

With 30 beers on draft daily, it’s no secret why Avery Brewing is such a hit in the Boulder community. Established in 1993, Avery Brewing has been creating eccentric ales and lagers you can’t find anywhere else.

Reserve a table at their tap room, or join in on a free guided tour and try all their creative blends such as the Bug Zapper sour ale with lime zest, ginger, and mint, or the Vanilla Bean Stout, made with notes of chocolate, caramel, and molasses, and aged in Bourbon barrels.

Finkel and Garf

A father and son collaboration, The Finkel and Garf Brewing Company is centered around two goals: to make outstanding craft beer, and to facilitate great moments among family and friends. Great beer isn’t all you get at this tap room. Rediscover your inner kid at heart while you sip by playing board games and lounging on comfy couches.

Every Tuesday from 3-9 pm, Finkel and Garf host a non-profit organization at their Pints with a Purpose event, where $1 of every pint purchased is donated to their cause. Head out to their tap room in Gunbarrel, have some fun, connect with local organizations, and drink some of their delicious beer.

Twisted Pine

From traditional brews to adventurous creations, Twisted Pine offers pints that are sure to please any palette. But, the creativity doesn’t stop at the bar. With a team of imaginative brewers, Twisted Pine chefs have even found ways to infuse their beers into their menu to give you the ultimate brewery experience.

Brewing beer in Boulder since 1995, Twisted Pine’s weekly rotation of taps always brings something new to the menu for you to enjoy. Try their Nitro Big Shot espresso stout, blended with locally roasted organic coffee, or the hot pepper-infused Ghost Face Killah if you’re looking for a kick!

Boulder Beer

Proclaimed as Colorado’s First Craft Brewery, Boulder Beer was started by two University of Colorado professors in 1979 and is still tapping away decades later. With a loyalty program for frequent visitors, free live music hosted on the outdoor patio every Thursday and Saturday evening through the summer months, and Team Trivia nights during the winter, Boulder Beer is the perfect place to grab your friends, have some fun, and drink great beer.

Want a quick flight before your flight? The main terminal at Denver International Airport is home to a Boulder Beer Tap House so you can enjoy a selection of year-round beers, seasonal offerings, and specialty brews before your next adventure.
