The Best Places to View Fall Foliage in Boulder

We may be biased, but we think Boulder is one of the best places to view fall foliage. With the Flatirons in the distance and numerous hiking spots, there are great places to take in the season. If you want to stick closer to town, then we definitely recommend Mapleton Historic District and its beautiful homes.

Hike: Wonderland Lake Loop Trail

Wonderland Lake Loop is an easy, 1.5 mile hike in the foothills of North Boulder. Offering beautiful views of the lake, fall foliage, and the Flatirons, this is one of the best spots in Boulder, fall or not!
You’ll want to watch for paragliders, who often launch off the top of Wonderland Hill Trail.

Drive: Peak to Peak Highway

The Peak to Peak Scenic Byway will take you from Boulder Canyon to Nederland, about 25 minutes from Boulder. This route features some of the best views in Colorado, and is particularly beautiful in the fall.

It continues to wind through Allenspark and Estes Park, making this a perfect weekend drive.

Take in the fall foliage in Boulder by stopping at designated areas, and there are a few hiking spots, too!

From hikes to homes to drives, these are some of the best spots to view fall foliage in Boulder. Of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the spectacular views of the Flatirons at Peloton West. See the beautiful fall colors on display without even leaving the building!
