5 Mid-Winter Boulder Activities

Just because the merriment and festivities of the holidays are now over doesn’t mean that the Boulder winter fun has to stop!

We’re blessed with such beautiful winters here in our mountain town, so it only makes sense to get out there and enjoy them.

Here are five wondrous winter activities to do in or near Boulder for the remainder of the season.

1. Go Skiing or Snowboarding

This may seem like a given, but one of the best things to do in Colorado in the winter is hit the slopes.

Eldora Ski Resort is just a short drive away, and it’s an excellent place for inexperienced and pro ski and snowboarding enthusiasts alike.

This season looks a little different at Eldora, and the resort has published a handy guide to the precautions they’re taking as well as additional rules and restrictions to follow regarding COVID-19.

2. Go Hiking

Hiking doesn’t have to be exclusively a Spring/Summer/Fall activity. Hiking during the winter can be incredibly enriching and enjoyable. There’s really nothing better than heading out into the chilled Boulder air and taking in the sights of snow capped mountains and wintery pine trees.

We recommend Boy Scout Trail, a Flagstaff Mountain 2-mile loop trail that offers some of Boulder’s best views for the winter months.

Make sure to dress in layers, and put some shoes on with some tread to avoid slipping!

3. Do some Snowga

We already know that yoga is a great practice for the mind and body. But, when snow is added to the exercise, yoga in the snow (snowga) is a unique experience unlike any other.

Breathing in the crisp air and reconnecting with nature is a great way to clear the mind and strengthen the body.

So, after a midwinter snowfall, head out to one of Boulder’s many parks and open spaces and get your flow on. Here’s a video to follow along with if you’re not sure where to start.

4. Grab a Local Coffee or Chai

And, when you’re finished with your delightfully chilly winter activities, warm up with a coffee or famed Boulder chai from a local coffee shop.

We recommend heading to Village Coffee Shop or Flatiron Coffee to get your fix.
